{"id":35,"date":"2009-09-12T21:41:28","date_gmt":"2009-09-12T21:41:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.petesworkshop.com\/blog_wp\/?p=35"},"modified":"2009-09-12T21:41:28","modified_gmt":"2009-09-12T21:41:28","slug":"egl-ce-on-linux-and-windows-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.petesworkshop.com\/blog_wp\/?p=35","title":{"rendered":"EGL-CE on Linux (and Windows 7)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I had a chance to do a quick reality check on the new EGL-CE and it looks pretty solid, even on &#8220;unsupported&#8221; platforms (at the moment) of Linux and Windows7. I just finished up the demo using\u00a0 EGL-CE and all seems to be working well.\u00a0 Granted, I am not using a DB connection yet and I haven&#8217;t had to deploy an app but a simple RUI app was successfully completed.\u00a0 Does that mean that EGL-CE on Linux is stable and ready for production?\u00a0 Well, I can&#8217;t say.\u00a0 However, the results so far have been encouraging.\u00a0 It wasn&#8217;t my intention to jump back into EGL at this moment but I did at least want to kick the tires and give EGL-CE a whirl on Linux.\u00a0 Now I need to boot back into Windows 7 and see if it all works on that side as well (can&#8217;t see why it wouldn&#8217;t).<\/p>\n<p>Next step is to do something substantial to exercise these EGL legs again.\u00a0 At least the Linux hurdle was a low one.\u00a0 I still have a pretty substantial Java project to finish (more enhancements and features for my <a title=\"ASAAP\" href=\"http:\/\/www.asaap.com\" target=\"_blank\">ASAAP<\/a> product) but as *soon* as that is done, I am going to work on something of substance with EGL.\u00a0 Maybe even use EGL-CE on linux.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll see.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I had a chance to do a quick reality check on the new EGL-CE and it looks pretty solid, even on &#8220;unsupported&#8221; platforms (at the moment) of Linux and Windows7.
